Secure Custom Fields Integration as a Trigger

Bit Integrations lets you connect Secure Custom Fields (SCF) to hundreds of platforms and tools, automatically. By setting SCF as a trigger, you can fire off actions in other apps (like sending emails, updating CRMs, or notifying Slack) whenever a custom field value changes or gets submitted on your WordPress site.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have the following:

• WordPress is installed and running
• Bit Integrations plugin installed and activated
• Secure Custom Fields (SCF) plugin installed and active
• At least one SCF field group already created (e.g., an Options Page with a field)

How to set up Secure Custom Fields Integration as a trigger step-by-step

Step 1: Create a New Integration

Navigate to Bit Integrations in your WordPress admin panel. You will land on the welcome screen.

Click the “Create Integration” button to get started.

Step 2: Search and Select SCF as Your Trigger

After clicking Create Integration, you will be taken to the Trigger Selection page.

In the search box, type “Secure Custom Fields.” The SCF option will appear. Click on the Secure Custom Fields (SCF) card to select it as your trigger source.

Step 3: Choose Your Specific SCF Trigger Event

After selecting SCF, a dropdown menu labeled “Select a Form/Task Name” will appear.

Click the dropdown and choose the trigger event that matches your use case. For this example, we’ll select “Options Page Field is Updated“. You will see all of the SCF trigger events in this list.

Step 4: Click the Fetch Button

Once you’ve selected your trigger event, a purple “Fetch” button will appear below the dropdown.

Click Fetch to tell Bit Integrations to start listening for a live data submission from SCF.

Step 5: Submit a Test Entry While the Countdown is Running

Right after clicking Fetch, the button will change to show “Waiting for form submission…” with a 3-minute countdown timer. This means Bit Integrations is actively listening to capture real data from your SCF trigger.

 Important: Perform the trigger action in a separate browser tab, without closing or refreshing the Bit Integrations setting page.

For this example, since we chose “Options Page Field is Updated”, go to your Options Page, make a small change to the field, and click Update.

Important: You must complete this action before the 3-minute timer runs out. If it expires, simply click Fetch again and repeat the test.

Step 6: Review Fetched Data and Click Set Action

Once your test entry is detected, the button changes to “Fetched ✓” and a table appears showing all the field data that was captured, including the field name, value, and data type.

In the example above, Bit Integrations successfully captured:

• Test (option): the field value (type: text)
• Field Key (test): the field’s internal key (type: text)

This confirms that Bit Integrations is correctly receiving data from your SCF trigger. Now, click the “Set Action” button to choose which platform or tool should receive this data (e.g., Google Sheets, Mailchimp, Slack, etc.).
